The Heating Mats emit infrared heat with broad wavelengths. These tend to heat the terrarium and the accessories contained in it rather than being dispersed in the air, reproducing the effect of the sun and allowing the animals housed to warm up in a very similar way to a natural environment.
Although in some cases they could be used without thermostats, we always recommend using a thermostat to make sure you have a constant and controlled temperature. For the best possible control, we recommend the use of a pulse thermostat.
The heating mats are particularly suitable for housing those animals which have a twilight/nocturnal nature and which in nature warm up during the day through the walls and floor of the dens in which they are hidden while waiting for the sunset. For very large terrariums, it may be useful to add an additional heater, such as a ceramic lamp or radiant panel.
They can also be used to dilute the cold areas of very large terrariums or terrariums that have to maintain a high climate (for example for desert animals or animals belonging to very hot areas), while using other heat sources such as bright spot lamps.
The mats can be used under the terrariums/boxes to heat the cases from below or be fixed to the walls (a good quality adhesive tape can be used to attach the "clear" portions of the mat to the terrarium), for arboreal animals .
When they are used inside terrariums, it is advisable to design a double bottom to insulate them from direct contact with the animal and thus prevent the carpet from being wet by droppings.
