Perlite is a volcanic rock that provides an airy substrate and optimal drainage... whether you want to use it to keep your reptile eggs (chameleon, iguana, snakes, etc.) in an incubator or whether you use it in gardening.
This expanded rock is an ideal product for gardening in general, it is in fact used to improve the quality of the soil and encourage the growth of potted plants by facilitating the anchoring of the roots. Furthermore, perlite is particularly appreciated for its ability to retain moisture and at the same time avoid water stagnation, thus creating optimal conditions for the development of a wide range of plants.
For example, if you want to use it for your carnivorous plants, just mix 1/3 of the volume of the substrate with 2/3 of pure acid peat or coconut to ensure the roots develop at their best!
You can instead use it pure for all your cuttings!
It helps reduce soil compaction in clay soils, you can germinate seeds, root cuttings and use it as a support for root systems in hydroponic gardening installations.
It is an excellent substitute or base to mix with vermiculite for incubating fragile reptile eggs, it will help you maintain ideal humidity in the incubator!
Perlite is stable and unalterable over time, has a neutral pH and does not contain parasitic microorganisms. Thanks to its porous structure it has a water retention capacity of approximately 15% v/v and guarantees sufficient accumulation of nutrients. It repairs the root system from temperature changes and keeps the nutrient solution at a constant temperature. Since it is an inert, sterile material and not subject to organic attacks, expanded perlite can also be used in closed cycle systems and does not present any degradation even after long periods of storage.
