What is perlite?

Perlite is an effusive volcanic rock with a variable color between gray and pink, which allows to obtain the following benefits:

• Guarantees excellent water absorption (water retention),
• It plays the role of draining the soil keeping it oxygenated and ventilated,
• Thanks to its exceptional lightness it is used in order to reduce the weight of the substrate.

You can use it for the hatching of eggs, to lighten the substrate of your fossil insects or your reptiles who prefer to dig but you can also use it in the substrate of your plants (especially succulent and fatty) to let the roots breathe.
