Herpetofauna Mexicana, Volume 2: Lizards of Mexico, Part 1: Iguanian Lizards.
Mexico is one of the hot spots of the extensive lizard diversity. The huge number of species has made it necessary to divide the saurians into two volumes, this first part concerns Iguania.
Peter Heimes is now the first to present in this book the accounts of all 237 species of iguanian lizards known in Mexico, including distribution maps and photographs.
The impressive list of names in the acknowledgements chapter shows that many, if not all Mexican herpetologists today, have contributed their knowledge to this book.
All this makes this book a truly fundamental publication.
?It is hoped that it will form a solid basis for future research on open questions and in particular on species that are still little known. It will also be of practical use to all those who devote their time and concern to the conservation of threatened lizard species in Mexico.
