A choice of 6% or 12% bulbs are available, both with a high UVA output of 30%, meaning a bright white light, not a residual blue tint.
Being UVB, they should not be used with a thermostat as this will inhibit the UV output. At only 23W, they generate very little heat, so will not significantly impact the temperature in most terrariums. However, in small nano systems they can also be used as a heat source.
6% UVB is ideal for rainforest species such as crested geckos and terrestrial lizards such as skinks. They are also suitable for crepuscular species such as leopard geckos, which require intermittent medium UV.
12% lamps have a higher UVB output and are more suitable for desert species or those that bask in the sun for extended periods, such as bearded dragons, uromastyxes and many species of turtles and tortoises.
