Solar Raptor Mercury Vapor Lamp MVL

Solar Raptor is the top-of-the-line company in the field of terrarium lamps.

Mercury vapor lamps are full-spectrum lamps that allow you to obtain heat, UV-A and UV-B output from a single lamp. They are perfect for those animals such as birds, tortoises and lizards that need a warm spot to bask in as well as UVA and UVB rays for vitamin D3 synthesis. Their emissions are also perfect for terrarium plants! They have a lifespan of over 3000 hours.

The spectrum of UVA/UVB ultraviolet rays emitted is comparable to that of sunlight: you will thus reproduce, for your animals, a light as similar as possible to that of their natural habitat. The integrated reflector increases the light output. THEY DO NOT NEED BALLASTS to work, so it is sufficient to house them in a lamp holder with an E27 socket which is resistant to high temperatures and which prevents direct contact with animals to avoid burns.

We recommend furnishing the terrarium providing adequate shaded areas available in case of need and always placing the lamps at the top (not laterally), in order to prevent the animals from experiencing eye problems following long exposure.

We suggest the use of SolarRaptor Clamp Lamp L lampholders.

They are NOT dimmable and the use of a thermostat is NOT recommended: frequent switching on/off would electrocute them in a very short time.

We suggest replacing the mercury vapor lamps every 12 months to ensure constant UVA and UVB emissions.
