The Reptile Systems Zone 3 UVB D3 Lamp is specifically designed for desert species such as bearded dragons and tortoises. This lamp helps your reptile produce vitamin D3 when basking under it, allowing it to absorb calcium from its diet and use it to build strong skeletons. This is extremely important for reptile husbandry and without UV D3 and calcium, your reptile could develop problems such as metabolic bone disease.

Determine the Ferguson zone needed for your reptile by consulting the file in the attachments at the bottom of the page.

For desert reptiles, such as bearded dragons and tortoises, that are kept in terrariums, the Reptile Systems D3+ UV T5 Reptile Lamp is perfect for providing them with the UVB light they need to generate the all-important Vitamin D3 needed to absorb calcium.

These lamps have a UV light output of 12%, which more closely mimics the natural light your reptile would receive in desert conditions, where foliage and cloud cover are limited and your reptile would be basking in the full heat and UV light of the sun.

For best results, you can use them with an electronic T5 controller, such as the Arcadia Electronic T5 Control Unit and replace them after 1 year of normal use. It is highly recommended to place the UV lamp a minimum of 15-20cm away from your reptile.

These lamps can be used as replacement lamps for the Reptile Systems Eco Zone 3 T5 unit.

Examples of animals in Ferguson Zone 3:
- black and white tegus ( Salvator merianae ),
- day geckos ( Phelsuma sp. ),
- Yemen chameleons ( Chamaeleo calyptratus ),
- Indian star tortoises ( Geochelone elegans ),
- leopard tortoises ( Stigmochelys pardalis ),
