The Habistat "Pulse Proportional" High Range thermostat is a probe thermostat ideal for controlling non-luminous heat sources such as heating cables and mats, ceramic lamps and radiant panels. The function of this thermostat is more elaborate than the simplest "on/off": it will control your heaters accurately, supporting a maximum load of 600w.
It is designed for those who need higher temperatures: it has an adjustment range from 26° to 40°C.
A normal on/off thermostat turns on the heater to which it is connected at full power until the desired temperature is reached: only then does it turn off the heater completely, until the temperature drops below the target again, at which point the cycle starts all over again .
The "gap" within which the heater is turned on and then off is called "hysteresis" and the closer the temperature of your terrarium remains to the set one, the better your thermostat will perform.
The Pulse Proportional thermostat sends electrical impulses to the heater which will be of increasingly lower frequency as it approaches the target temperature: in this way you will obtain constant heat and a very accurate temperature.
It can be used in terrariums, racks, paludariums, aquariums and in horticulture.
The "Heat" indicator light will light up with the same frequency as the pulses sent by the thermostat.
