Jackfruit leaves are an excellent naturalistic decoration for terrariums and paludariums, a source of food for countless exotic animals from reptiles to amphibians and even fish; it is a natural preventive remedy against diseases for freshwater aquariums!
Jackfruit leaves are an ideal substrate for tanks, aquariums, terrariums and many other setups, providing shelter for fry and small species of shrimp, crabs, crayfish, snails and fish, reptiles and amphibians while maintaining a natural appearance of the aquarium and terrarium. They are also an ideal growth substrate for biofilms and diatoms, both of which are key food sources for countless species of aquatic animals, including shrimp and other invertebrates, as well as fish.
Jackfruit leaves also have buffering properties. As they break down, they release tannins (tercatin, punicalin, punicalagin) that lower the pH of the aquarium, but gradually. This is especially useful for aquatic animals that require acidic water and low pH.
Jackfruit leaves come from 100% pesticide and chemical free areas and can be added directly to the aquarium or terrarium or paludarium with complete safety. These leaves can be left to completely decompose in the habitat you introduced them to. We recommend adding them sparingly at first to avoid drastic changes in water parameters or excessive cloudiness of the water.
